Is this how my car is going to die?

I am freaking out cause I think my car is dying. I have a 1995 Buick Lesabre. It has 130,000 miles on it and an oil leak. Recently I started the car and I would have the break off etc. and when I take my foot off the break to go to gas it won't go anywhere...maybe roll an inch..but it was on and running. It does that occasionally like 1 time a week. My husband said its the transmission going out...does that sound right maybe? IF that is the transmission doing that...how long could I possibly have til it dies? thanks ahead of time hope I get an answer worth 10 points! =)
