I was caught shopliffting at Nordstroms, but I cooperated & no police were called?

Now 3 days later I get a letter from Nordstroms seeking restitution of $475 for a $42 bracelet that was returned with no damage. I am a part time college student without a job barely getting by, what other recourse do i have? Lyrrad
