How long should I wait before I get rid of some unhatched chicken eggs?

At the moment, 2 eggs are on their 24th day in the incubator but does anyone know how long I should wait untill I get rid of them and is there some special way of getting rid of them? This is only the 2nd time I have incubated eggs so I am no expert even though I have always have chickens!!
